Zweep Events cancels eight major events in Winschoten

Zweep Events has announced the immediate cancellation of eight major events in Winschoten, including the German Days, Koningsmarkt, Easter Event, Pentecost Event, and Rolling Winschoten. The organizers, Rob and Meindert Zweep, cited increasing regulatory demands and conflicts with the local government as the primary reasons for the decision after 15 years of operation.

The organizers claim that despite submitting permit applications months in advance, the municipality recently imposed a series of new requirements they deemed impractical and irrelevant. They expressed frustration with the administrative process, describing the local government as unresponsive to the practical realities of event organization.

The Municipality of Oldambt stated it was surprised by the sudden announcement, noting that discussions regarding the German Days scheduled for October 3 were still ongoing. While the municipality acknowledged that contact with the organizers should have occurred sooner following the permit application, they maintained that they have been attempting to assist by discussing alternative locations and safety plan requirements.
