ZXMOTO develops new 1,000cc V5 engine for high-performance motorcycles
ZXMOTO founder Zhang Xue has announced the development of a new V5-configuration engine with a displacement of approximately 1,000cc. The project aims to produce a high-performance production superbike and enter professional racing competitions by 2028.
While specific technical details such as exact power output and dimensions remain unconfirmed, some reports suggest the engine could produce around 253 hp. The project is reportedly being developed in collaboration with the University of Science and Technology of China, utilizing aerospace-grade forged components.
If successful, the engine could facilitate ZXMOTO's transition from the FIM Supersport World Championship, where its 820RR model has already secured six victories, to the WorldSBK category. However, a V5 configuration is not currently included in the standard WorldSBK technical regulations, meaning participation would depend on future rule changes.
