ZXMoto announces development of V5 engine superbike

ZXMoto founder and CEO Zhang Xue has announced the development of a high-performance superbike featuring a V5 engine configuration. The project aims to bring the motorcycle to racing tracks by 2028.

The proposed engine will have a displacement of approximately 1,000 cc. While official technical specifications, such as exact horsepower or dimensions, have not been released, unofficial reports in China suggest the engine could reach 1,100 cc and exceed 210 hp.

The choice of a five-cylinder V architecture is unconventional in the modern high-performance market, which is dominated by four-cylinder and V4 engines. This specific configuration allows for different ignition intervals and power delivery, though it introduces technical complexities regarding crankshaft design, cooling, and weight management.
