ZXMoto announces V5 engine project for 2028

ZXMoto founder Zhang Xue has announced plans to develop a V5-configuration engine, targeting a 2028 release for both racing and high-performance street production. The engine is expected to be approximately 1,000cc.

While Zhang Xue expressed ambitions to enter the top tier of the World Superbike Championship (WSBK), current WSBK regulations only permit four-stroke engines with two, three, or four cylinders. The Superbike Commission's roadmap through 2030 does not currently include five-cylinder configurations.

In the interim, ZXMoto plans to participate in major global competitions in 2027, including the World Enduro Championship and the World Rally Championship. The company has also signed top rider Skyler Haus for the Dakar Rally, where they aim to secure a track victory.
