As of September 4, 2026, the Brunswick Complex wildfires in the Fraser Canyon area are being held, according to the BC Wildfire Service. Both the Ainslie Creek and Brunswick Creek wildfires have been downgraded from being out of control or listed as fires of note. The Brunswick Creek wildfire, which was human-caused and discovered on July 2, grew to 9,266 hectares before sparking the Ainslie Creek blaze on July 4. The Ainslie Creek fire expanded to 67,722 hectares. Despite the status change, officials expect fire activity to persist within the interior of the wildfire perimeter until winter due to extreme drought conditions. In addition to the Brunswick Complex, the Bald Range wildfire near Summerland is now considered under control. The area restriction order for the Bald Range blaze has been rescinded; this fire previously covered more than 25,000 hectares and necessitated the evacuation of over 20,000 people. Earlier in the month, the situation for the Bradley Creek wildfire complex west of Vernon had stabilized, with approximately 2,658.1 hectares burned as of August 15. More recently, the Okanagan Indian Band has partially rescinded its evacuation order for the Bradley Creek wildfire. Residents on several roads, including Goat Trail Road, Sqareilks Road, and Abel Cove Road, are permitted to return home, though officials warn of remaining hazards such as smoke, ash, and unstable structures. Regarding regional impacts, most evacuation alerts and orders in the Fraser Valley Regional District, Thompson Nicola Regional District, and local First Nations areas have been cancelled or downgraded. Additionally, Highway 1 has since reopened following previous closures caused by the fires.
