SAS cabin crew labor dispute

In early August 2026, about 500 SAS cabin‑crew members in Norway voted against a proposed collective agreement, prompting Fellesforbundet to schedule a strike for the morning of 8 August. The union cited lagging wage growth for low‑seniority staff and kept negotiations open.

Two days later the strike threat expanded, with the union indicating that up to 750 cabin‑crew members could walk out during the peak summer travel period. Analysts warned of costly disruptions, while a mediator met with union representatives from Fellesforbundet, Parat and NHO Luftfart/SAS to seek a new deal. The situation remained unresolved, with both sides continuing talks to avoid a large‑scale strike.

On 5 August, the unions confirmed that the strike would begin at 04:00 on 8 August unless a clear offer is presented. Negotiations continued at the Riksmekleren mediation centre. While flights operated by the main SAS brand could be affected, services under SAS Connect and SAS Link were expected to run, and certain routes such as medical evacuations to Longyearbyen were exempt. The dispute focuses on low wages relative to rivals, unpredictable schedules and the need for better work‑life balance, alongside the broader wage‑differential issues.
