In late July 2026, Russia launched a large-scale barrage against Ukraine using over 70 missiles and approximately 280 drones. The strikes targeted Kyiv and several regions, including Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, Kryvyi Rih, and Poltava, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries. In response to the attacks, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for increased air-defense support, specifically requesting more Patriot systems to address critical shortages. By mid-August 2026, the conflict involved intensified drone warfare and retaliatory strikes.
