The Asociación de Trabajadores del Estado (ATE), representing workers from the Administración Nacional de Aviación Civil (ANAC), postponed a planned 48-hour strike that would have affected more than 27 airports across Argentina. The union decided to suspend the labor action to seek an urgent hearing with the Ministry of Labor to clarify the definition of essential services. ATE is demanding the payment of previously agreed salary bonuses, the reopening of salary discussions, and increased funding for operational areas like the Airport Rescue and Firefighting Service (SSEI). Union leaders noted a nearly 40 percent loss in purchasing power since the current administration began. While the government has previously issued an injunction requiring the union to maintain at least 75 percent of services due to aviation being classified as an essential service, the union has indicated it may resume industrial action if formal dialogue is not established. In recent developments, the Ministry of Capital Human formally demanded that ATE guarantee at least 75 percent of services during any industrial action, citing Law No. 25.877. Although the strike was postponed as a gesture of goodwill, ATE has indicated it may resume measures starting Monday, September 7, if negotiations fail. During the previously proposed strike windows, the union had stated it would only guarantee sanitary, humanitarian, organ transplant, and official flights.
