Hyundai Motor India has officially launched the Bayon SUV, fulfilling the scheduled October 26 release. Positioned as an ‘Intelligent Utility Vehicle’ between the Venue and Creta, the model is now available for booking through authorized dealerships and digital portals for a token amount of INR 11,000, with deliveries expected to commence during the upcoming festive period. The Indian-market Bayon is powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 113-115 PS and 144 Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a CVT gearbox. The vehicle measures 4.2 meters in length and is offered in 10 color options. Technological and safety features remain central to the launch. The interior utilizes a panoramic dashboard with dual 12.3-inch screens and features Hyundai’s first generative AI voice assistant in India, which supports over 500 commands. The connected cockpit is NVIDIA-accelerated. For safety, top-tier variants include the ‘Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro ADAS suite’, employing three radar sensors and twelve parking sensors to provide 23 active driver assistance functions. The vehicle structure is composed of 69 percent advanced multi-grade high-strength steel and includes standard features such as six airbags, electronic stability control, and tyre pressure monitoring. Following the launch, specific pricing details for the Indian market indicate an introductory ex-showroom price of ₹9.99 lakh. The lineup consists of seven variants, ranging from the HX2 to the HX10. The vehicle’s generative AI voice assistant is powered by Perplexity and SoundHound AI. While currently petrol-only, a CNG version is expected to launch in January 2027. Built on the Global K Enhanced Platform, the Bayon is intended for both domestic sale and export to over 50 countries. Hyundai aims to increase its annual mid-size SUV sales from 170,000 to 250,000 units through the combined performance of the Creta and Bayon.
