Mexican security operations against organized crime
Overview
Mexican security forces have conducted a series of operations targeting organized crime, specifically focusing on the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and related criminal activities.
In late August, authorities in the Hidalgo and Puebla regions detained eight individuals regarding the disappearance of two CFE workers. In Puebla, the Navy and local police arrested three suspected CJNG members linked to homicides and vehicle theft. Simultaneously, Oaxaca reported over 1,400 arrests and linked the ASAEO labor union to crimes including extortion and drug trafficking.
By September, a coordinated operation by the National Guard and the Mexican Army in Tecalitlán, Jalisco, dismantled a clandestine medical facility allegedly used by the CJNG to treat injured cartel members. The raid resulted in the rescue of eight men held against their will and the arrest of six suspects facing charges of human trafficking and forced disappearance. Authorities also seized drugs, medical supplies, and ammunition at the site.
