Chinese Malatang specialty restaurant chains are expanding their presence across various regions in Japan. In mid-September 2026, Oshin Malatang opened a new location in Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture, offering customizable ingredients and various soup bases. Concurrently, the Fuuen Malatang brand announced its first expansion into Kagawa Prefecture, with a scheduled opening at Aeon Mall Takamatsu on September 30, 2026. The brand aims to reach 100 locations nationwide. By late September 2026, further expansions were announced for the end of the year. Qin Ai De Malatang is set to open its 17th Japanese location in Ichikawa, Chiba, on November 27, 2026. Additionally, Li Xiao Qi Malatang, which operates over 3,000 locations in China, plans to open a branch in Shiki, Saitama, in mid-October 2026. Recent openings include the Harbin-originated brand Yang Guo Fu Malatang in Tachikawa, Tokyo, near the north exit of Tachikawa Station. This location features 63 seats and takeout options. In Kobe, Xiao Nazha Malatang held its grand opening in the Otsuwa area of Nishi Ward on September 28. To celebrate, the restaurant is offering a free drink with orders exceeding 1,500 yen through November 22.
