Carlos Tevez farewell match planning

Overview

Former striker Carlos Tevez is planning a farewell match at the La Bombonera stadium in Buenos Aires, now confirmed for Sunday, December 20, 2026. The event serves as a formal goodbye to fans, occurring five years after his professional retirement in 2021.

A primary objective of the match is to have Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo play as teammates for the first time. While initial reports regarding player acceptance were met with uncertainty due to potential mistranslations, Tevez intends to invite both players personally. The event has received authorization from Boca Juniors president Juan Román Riquelme.

The proposed match is expected to feature a combination of international stars against a squad composed of Boca Juniors’ 2003 world champion players. Other potential participants mentioned include Sergio Agüero, Javier Mascherano, Ángel Di María, Gianluigi Buffon, and Wayne Rooney. The match is scheduled to be broadcast by ESPN and Disney Plus, though the specific kickoff time and finalized guest list remain pending.

Details regarding ticket prices and purchasing methods are expected to be released by the organizing company in the coming days. Tevez’s career included stints at Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus, West Ham, Corinthians, and Shanghai Shenhua, totaling 747 appearances, 308 goals, and 144 assists.
