Regional developments in Mexico

Overview

Regional developments in Mexico continue to involve a variety of social, legal, and infrastructural initiatives across several municipalities.

In the state of Hidalgo, the municipality of Jacala has joined the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Comprehensive Care and Protection Model for Women Living with Violence. This marks the sixth region in the state to implement the initiative through the Hidalgo Institute for Women.

Legal investigations by the Hidalgo State Attorney General’s Office (PGJEH) in Atotonilco de Tula have expanded to include the exhumation of two bodies from an unauthorized burial site, alongside reports of property damage and threats at the municipal presidency following local protests.

Technological and academic efforts include research at the Higher Technological Institute of Huichapan (ITESHU) into using maguey waste as a sustainable alternative to natural mixiote packaging. Additionally, the Hidalgo Secretariat of Anti-Corruption and Good Government is recruiting students and recent graduates for the 2027 Regional Young Auditors Program to promote transparency in public resource management.

Infrastructure and public health efforts also remain noted, such as a 300 million peso urban rehabilitation program in San Luis Potosí, street paving projects in Hermosillo, and blood donation drives in Delicias.
