Forest fires in Spain

Overview

In late September 2026, emergency services in Spain worked to contain and extinguish several forest fires. In Silleda, a blaze affecting approximately 15 hectares of scrubland was contained by early Friday morning. Meanwhile, in Cartaya, the Valle Salado fire was fully extinguished, marking the third fire in that municipality within a two-week period.

By October, further forest fires were reported in the Valencian Community. A fire in a pine forest in Bocairent was stabilized and extinguished following a large deployment of ground and aerial resources. In Castellfort, a separate fire affecting less than one hectare was extinguished despite firefighting efforts being complicated by wind gusts of nearly 130 kilometers per hour.
