Security operations in Jammu and Kashmir

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have conducted multiple operations resulting in the recovery of advanced weaponry and explosives.

In the Doda district, a joint operation involving the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifles, and the CRPF led to the recovery of the remains of a Pakistani terrorist and an American-manufactured M4 assault rifle. Security agencies noted that the recovery of such modern weaponry raises concerns regarding the flow of arms from Afghanistan into the region.

In the Baramulla district, a cordon-and-search operation in the Mukaam Cherhar forest area led to the seizure of a significant cache. Following specific intelligence, personnel from the Sopore Police, 22 Rashtriya Rifles, and the CRPF discovered a blue barrel and a bag concealed beneath a large boulder.

The seized arsenal included an AK-47, an AK-76, four pistols, and a multi-grenade launcher with five rounds. Authorities also recovered 11 hand grenades, three remote-controlled improvised explosive devices (IEDs), eight detonators, two timers, and various components used for explosive fabrication, such as wires, battery cells, and prima cords.

A case has been registered at the Bomai Police Station under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Arms Act, and the Explosive Substances Act. Investigations are ongoing to identify the owners of the cache and determine potential links to militant or terrorist activities.
