Drunk driving incidents in Germany

Overview

Police in Germany have reported multiple separate incidents involving drivers operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol.

In mid-October, authorities in Bad Gandersheim seized the license of a 64-year-old driver with a blood alcohol level exceeding 1.1 per mille. In Ebersbach an der Fils, a 62-year-old man was found with an alcohol level of over three per mille and required medical treatment.

Later in the month, a 35-year-old man in Marschalkenzimmern was stopped during a routine check with a blood alcohol level of approximately 1.2 per mille. In a separate event near Weilheim, a 50-year-old driver was intercepted after a witness reported a vehicle driving in extreme zig-zag patterns; the driver’s breathalyzer result exceeded 1.1 per mille, and the vehicle showed damage suggesting a recent collision with a guardrail.
