NFL player injury trends

During the 2026 NFL season, player availability has been heavily impacted by various injuries. In early October, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced challenges with Baker Mayfield expected to be sidelined for several weeks, while the Philadelphia Eagles dealt with the loss of Saquon Barkley to injury.

By late October, injury reports indicated ongoing concerns for several high-profile players. Baker Mayfield remained questionable with a thumb injury, and Saquon Barkley was listed as questionable with a hamstring injury. Other notable player absences and status updates included Breece Hall, David Montgomery, Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel, Rashee Rice, and Puka Nacua.

As the league entered Week 7, several key players continued to impact team depth. The San Francisco 49ers faced a depleted receiving corps with Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel sidelined. In Baltimore, Lamar Jackson was expected to miss a third consecutive game due to a high ankle sprain, while David Montgomery remained out with a groin injury.

Other status updates included Breece Hall and Puka Nacua, both listed as game-time decisions due to quad and calf issues, respectively. Conversely, Minnesota Vikings tight end TJ Hockenson cleared concussion protocol and was cleared to play.
