Brazilian law enforcement operations against organized crime

Overview

Law enforcement agencies in Brazil have conducted various operations targeting organized crime and trafficking. In Paraná, the Military Police launched ‘Operation Omnis – Fronteira’ to combat drug and arms trafficking, smuggling, and robberies in the western border region, specifically around Foz do Iguaçu. This operation utilized land, water, and air patrols to monitor commercial corridors and residential areas.

Subsequent police actions expanded to include Minas Gerais, where the Integrated Force to Combat Organized Crime (FICCO/MG) executed ‘Operation Entre Vagas’ in Juiz de Fora to dismantle drug distribution networks. Other regional activities in Minas Gerais involved arrests related to drug trafficking, robbery, and the capture of fugitives. In Paraná, separate law enforcement actions included the arrest of an individual for home invasion and threats.
