A30 road safety upgrades and disruptions

Overview

National Highways has implemented safety upgrades on the A30, resulting in significant traffic disruptions. Following initial full closures in early August between Five Lanes and Kennards House, the project has moved into a phase of ongoing restrictions.

From September 7 through March 2027, motorists face single-lane traffic in each direction between Kennards House and Five Lanes, with speed limits reduced to 40mph and 50mph. Drivers have reported increased travel times, with some journeys between Bodmin and Launceston exceeding one hour.

Further scheduled disruptions include a westbound closure on September 23 and a full two-way closure on September 30 during overnight hours. Additionally, the eastbound side of the Polyphant junction into Holyway Cross is expected to remain closed until November.
