Abu Dhabi digital asset and tokenization expansion
Overview
Abu Dhabi is expanding its role as a global digital asset hub through new institutional licensing and stablecoin integration within the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM).
Coinbase secured Financial Services Permission from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) to arrange investment deals and provide custody services for tokenized securities. The company intends to use Abu Dhabi as its primary international hub for tokenization and derivatives businesses outside the United States, planning to issue digital securities backed by traditional financial assets.
Furthering the region's digital footprint, Bitcoin.com and Universal Digital Intl Limited partnered to integrate USDU into their product suite. USDU is a CBUAE-registered USD stablecoin issued under FSRA regulation in the ADGM, representing the first registered Foreign Payment Token under the Central Bank of the UAE’s Payment Token Services Regulation.
