Académico de Viseu FC activities and league play

Académico de Viseu FC has introduced a new city-themed football kit featuring patterns inspired by the historic towers of Viseu and is organizing a Fan Zone event to engage supporters.

In league play, the club entered the eighth round of the Primeira Liga seeking a fourth consecutive victory following recent wins against Gil Vicente, Vitoria de Guimaraes, and Estrela Amadora. Holding seventh place with 11 points, the hosts prepared to face bottom-of-the-table Estoril Praia at Estádio do Fontelo. Ahead of the match, coach Bruno Pinheiro warned against complacency, noting that Estoril possesses high-quality players and might use tactical changes or increased aggression to secure their first win of the season.

Académico de Viseu ultimately secured a 2-1 victory against Estoril Praia. Following the match, Pinheiro remarked that the team played an ‘interesting and balanced first half,’ despite some struggles to adapt to Estoril’s second-half tactical shifts. The coach expressed confidence that the recent points reinforce the players' belief in the club’s process, stating that Académico de Viseu has the necessary conditions to ensure a ‘stable stay in the top flight’ despite upcoming difficult fixtures, such as the match at Alvalade.

For the ninth round of the Primeira Liga, Académico de Viseu is scheduled to travel to Estadio Jose Alvalade to face Sporting Lisbon. Sporting currently sits third in the standings and remains unbeaten in domestic play. Académico de Viseu enters the fixture maintaining its strong performance since returning to the top flight, currently occupying seventh position with 14 points.
