ACI nautical tourism development in Croatia
Overview
The development of Croatia’s nautical tourism sector has moved from strategic discussion to concrete investment planning. During the ‘Nautical Tourism Croatia 2030’ conference, ACI President Ankica Kruljac emphasized that extending maritime concessions was a “critical prerequisite for initiating a new investment cycle.”
Following these discussions, the Croatian government extended concessions for 21 ACI-operated nautical tourism ports until the end of 2058. This extension is expected to facilitate approximately 140 million euros in new investments. A primary project includes the construction of the ACI Marina Rijeka in Porto Baroš, an 80 million euro luxury mega-marina being co-developed with the Lürssen Group through the ACI Gitone joint venture. Other planned works include the reconstruction of the Ičići marina.
Under the new concession terms, concession fees will increase, consisting of a fixed portion of 1.5 euros per square meter—adjusted every five years—and a variable portion of 4 percent of annual revenue. Total public contributions over the concession period are estimated at roughly 700 million euros.
