Acre Brazil coffee sector initiatives

In July 2026 the state of Acre hosted its second State Coffee Seminar, bringing together growers, researchers, cooperatives and public agencies to discuss market trends, plantation design, clone evaluation, environmental licensing, export opportunities and post‑harvest handling. The forum was paired with a Master Consulting module that trained field technicians in pre‑harvest management, harvesting, drying, storage and early post‑harvest processes, aiming to raise coffee quality and market value.

A week later, researchers from Embrapa Acre began on‑farm trials using coffee husk and straw as low‑cost organic fertilizers, seeking to cut dependence on chemical inputs and to repurpose processing residues for thermal energy in grain‑drying. Simultaneously, the IPAM‑led EU‑funded “Recuperação Produtiva de Paisagens Resilientes” project was rolled out in the Vale do Juruá to restore degraded soils through agroforestry and diversified crops such as fruit, coffee, cacao and watermelon. Both efforts underscore a regional push toward more resilient, sustainable, and value‑added coffee production while avoiding new deforestation.
