The lemon harvest has commenced in Adana, Turkey, a region producing roughly 40 percent of the nation’s citrus. Producers are targeting a yield of approximately 710,000 tons from 218,000 decares of groves, marking a significant recovery from the 380,000 tons produced in 2025 following frost damage.

Despite the high expected yields, the sector is facing economic difficulties. While orchard prices range from 5 to 12 lira per kilogram, significant price disparities exist throughout the supply chain; wholesale prices are reported around 10 lira, while supermarket prices can reach as high as 100 lira per kilogram.

Agricultural leaders have noted that harvest progress is slow due to shipping traffic disruptions in the Black Sea resulting from the Russia-Ukraine war. Producers are looking toward the start of the export window around September 21 to help stabilize domestic prices and prevent oversupply, as current international markets are being supplied by South Africa and Argentina.
