Adapterra Awards climate adaptation finalists

Overview

The eighth edition of the Adapterra Awards, an ecological competition focused on climate change adaptation, has announced its 18 finalists selected from 71 entries. The awards recognize practical solutions for managing drought, heat, and heavy rainfall across categories including landscape, settlements, buildings, and agriculture.

Finalist projects include the ‘Květnaté louky’ (Flower Meadows) initiative in Prague 12, which converts housing estate lawns into biodiverse meadows to increase soil water retention and support pollinators. Another finalist involves the restoration of streams and wetlands near Stráženská slať in Šumava National Park, a 153-hectare project designed to restore natural water regimes and encourage regular flooding.

An expert jury will select winners for the main categories, while the public can vote for a People's Choice Award until early October. Winners are scheduled to be announced on November 5 at a conference in Prague.
