Adult protein intake recommendations
Entities: Creatine · Health.com · Leucine · Vitamin D · Nancy Rodriguez
Overview
The first snapshot (late July) offered protein and supplement guidance specifically for men in the Balkans, recommending a minimum of 0.8 g per kilogram of body weight and higher amounts (1.4–2.2 g/kg) for active or older men, and listing supplements such as leucine, HMB, collagen, creatine and vitamin D.
A few days later, the guidance was broadened. The second snapshot presented general protein recommendations for all adults, suggesting about 0.85 g/kg daily and higher ranges (1.2–2 g/kg) for regular exercisers. It added intake values for children, safe limits for protein‑powder use (20–40 g per day), and cautioned people with kidney disease or diabetes to seek medical advice. The overall message shifted from a male‑focused, region‑specific set of advice to a wider, age‑inclusive set of recommendations with safety considerations.
