Adult university academic launches in Italy
Overview
In October 2026, several Italian municipalities launched new academic programs for the 2026/2027 year through free universities for adults.
In Bastia Umbra, the Università Libera began its first courses on October 20, focusing on language acquisition and physical well-being, such as Pilates and Nordic walking. The institution plans to expand into scientific, artistic, and theatrical disciplines in the future.
In Senigallia, the Libera Università per gli Adulti di Senigallia (LUAS) inaugurated its academic year with an opening ceremony attended by over 120 people. The program features ten courses and approximately 50 scheduled meetings through April, covering topics such as European Union law and European citizenship. The institution is also preparing for its 40th anniversary in 2028, which may include a name change to ‘Libera Università dei Saperi’. The inauguration also included scientific presentations regarding Mediterranean environmental transformations and local fossil significance.
