This proof-of-concept study aims to improve the accuracy of visual cortical prostheses for those with damaged visual pathways.
Complementary advancements include the Visionauta application, which uses AI and smartphone cameras to describe environments and read text for low-vision users. Additionally, in Spain, eye-tracking technology has been implemented at the Hospital Universitario Insular de Gran Canaria to allow patients with severe neuromotor disorders, such as ALS, to communicate via gaze-controlled devices.
