AEON continues its retail expansion in Vietnam, designating the country as a priority market within its 2026-2030 Medium-Term Management Plan. The group aims to allocate approximately 60 per cent of its total ASEAN investment capital to Vietnam, with a long-term goal to triple its business scale and establish 300 stores by 2030. On October 3, 2026, AEON Vietnam opened AEON Hải Dương in Thạch Khôi ward, Hải Phòng city. As the group’s tenth shopping center in the country and its third medium-scale mall, the facility covers approximately 38,100 m². The project, representing an investment of approximately 1,180 billion VND, is designed as a “Paradise for 3-Generation Families” and has received provisional LOTUS Gold certification for green building construction. The mall utilizes eco-friendly materials, solar energy, and advanced HVAC systems, and has been surrounded by over 13,000 planted trees. On October 18, 2026, AEON MALL Thanh Hoa officially opened, marking the brand's first presence in the North Central region. Spanning over 10 hectares with a total floor area of approximately 120,000 square meters, the facility features more than 130 stores, including brands like UNIQLO. Representing a total investment of approximately 4,157 billion VND, the mall recorded over 200,000 visitors within its first three days. Tezuka Daisuke, General Director of AEON Vietnam, noted the high consumer potential among young families. Local leaders highlighted the project as a symbol of the “comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan.” To adapt to evolving consumer trends, AEON is implementing a restructuring strategy focused on quality improvements. At AEON MALL Binh Tan, the company is refreshing retail spaces, while transformations at Tan Phu Celadon through 2026 will introduce brands such as Coach, Stanley, Haidilao, and LUSH. In Quang Ninh province, AEON Mall Ha Long is preparing for its opening. On October 10, 2026, the site hosted a “Gieo mầm sóng xanh” (Sowing Green Waves) tree planting ceremony and officially received the LOTUS green building certification. The mall is scheduled to begin welcoming customers on November 11, 2026. This expansion is driving significant job growth; AEON Vietnam expects to create over 3,000 new jobs in 2026, aiming for a total workforce of more than 12,000 employees by year-end.
