African contemporary art exhibitions in Senegal and Benin
Overview
Senegal has a long-standing history as a central hub for African intellectual and artistic exchange, dating back to the 1956 International Congress of Black Writers and Artists and the establishment of the Dak’Art Biennale.
Building on this legacy, the 16th Dak’Art Biennale is scheduled to take place in Senegal from November 19 to December 19, 2026. Directed by Morad Montazami, the event will focus on the theme “(Anti)fragility: Arts of Repair and Counter-strike Strategies” and features an international selection of 75 artists and designers, with the Democratic Republic of the Congo serving as the guest of honor.
