African Development Bank strategic partnerships

Overview

The African Development Bank Group has entered into new agreements to expand financial support and infrastructure investment across the continent.

In mid-October, the Bank signed a confirming bank agreement with Dubai-based Mashreq to address the African trade finance gap, which was estimated between $74 billion and $92 billion in 2024. This partnership utilizes the Bank’s AAA rating to support cross-border trade flows and assist local African banks.

By late October, the Bank signed a Memorandum of Understanding with UK Export Finance (UKEF) in Guinea. This agreement establishes a framework for co-financing sovereign and non-sovereign projects, targeting sectors such as energy, infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, and digital development to mobilize capital for sustainable growth.
