African sports and vocational training initiatives
Overview
Various African nations are implementing initiatives that integrate sports development with vocational training and youth employment.
In Djibouti, the Djibouti Judo Federation launched a technical training program for coaches supported by Olympic Solidarity to enhance national coaching skills. In Senegal, the Ministry of Employment, Vocational Training and Technical Education is collaborating with the African Development Bank on a project to support skills development and youth entrepreneurship.
Furthering these efforts, Senegal is developing a sports-education-vocational complex in Méouane to combine athletic training with professional education in trades such as mechanics and carpentry. Meanwhile, in Madagascar, the Madagascar Football Federation inaugurated the renovated Carion National Technical Center, a $2.7 million project funded by FIFA Forward to provide training for national teams, technicians, and referees.
