AGF football club match and fan incidents
Overview
The Aarhus Gymnastikforening (AGF) football club has experienced a series of challenging matches and security incidents during the summer of 2026.
During the Superliga season opening, a Brøndby IF supporter threw a beer cup that struck AGF forward Mikael Anderson during a match at Ceres Park Vejlby. Following this, AGF recorded a 1–1 draw against AC Horsens, a result that led head coach Jens Fønsskov Olsen to criticize the team’s lack of quality in converting chances.
In August, AGF was eliminated from the Champions League qualification rounds after a 4–0 loss to Sabah in Azerbaijan, resulting in a 2–5 aggregate defeat. Before the match in Baku, approximately 175 AGF supporters were reportedly attacked by 40–50 Sabah fans, an incident in which one fan sustained a laceration over the eye. AGF will proceed to the Europa League playoffs.
