Agricultural development initiatives in Guinea

Overview

Agricultural development initiatives in Guinea have expanded to include digital technology, nutritional education, and economic empowerment for women.

In August 2026, the Crédit Rural de Guinée and the startup Kumy launched the ‘Agriculteurs Connectés’ programme in Conakry. This initiative enrolled 4,000 farmers to provide precision agriculture through digital platforms, agronomic advice, and improved access to financing. CRG Director General Amara Kourouma stated the partnership aims to provide “solutions innovantes et des expertises techniques” to help farmers improve productivity and secure income.

Other regional efforts have focused on food security and social empowerment. In the Dabola district, the NGO AGUISSA utilized the AgriFARM project to conduct awareness sessions on dietary practices and food diversification. Meanwhile, in Yembering, the Chalco Guinea Company S.A. has been supporting women’s cooperatives to help them manage climate and land challenges, aiming to foster female leadership and independent income through organized production.
