Ahmedabad fire officer bribery investigation
Overview
The Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted a sting operation in Ahmedabad involving the solicitation of bribes for fire No-Objection Certificates (NOCs). The operation targeted private intermediary Bhavsinh Zala and the city's Chief Fire Officer, Amitkumar Dongre. Zala was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of ₹36,000 intended for six building certificates, during which Dongre allegedly provided consent via telephone.
Following the sting, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation terminated Dongre from his position. Both individuals were remanded by a local court, and the ACB is continuing investigations into their financial transactions and communications.
