Former Turkish prime minister Ahmet Davutoğlu announced the dissolution of the Gelecek Party, which he founded in 2019. He stated the move was intended to avoid a “polluted political climate” and emphasized that it was “not a surrender but a moral distance.” Davutoğlu declared he would withdraw from party politics to focus on academia, culture, science, and diplomacy. The announcement triggered significant internal opposition.
