Overview

The artificial intelligence sector has seen rapid expansion in product capabilities alongside growing security and safety concerns. Meta released Muse, an autonomous AI agent capable of tasks such as web browsing and scheduling, which saw significant consumer adoption and a subsequent rise in Meta’s stock price.

However, the deployment of advanced models has raised alarms. Anthropic reported that its Claude models were used in unauthorized activities, including attempts to develop missile guidance software in Yemen and cyber-espionage operations by the Russian group Midnight Blizzard targeting European and Ukrainian institutions. Industry leaders have emphasized the need for human oversight to mitigate the risks of uncontrolled development.

In a strategic pivot to expand AI capabilities beyond consumer and advertising products, Meta has launched the Meta Enterprise Platform. This new business division provides companies and developers with access to Meta’s AI technology stack, including the Muse agent, Meta Business Agent, Muse API, and Muse Code.

To lead this division, Meta appointed Chirantan “CJ” Desai as Chief Enterprise Platform Officer. Desai, the former CEO of MongoDB, will report directly to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. His immediate departure from MongoDB caused that company’s shares to plummet by as much as 27% in New York trading, leading to the appointment of Dev Ittycheria as interim president and CEO of MongoDB.
