AI integration and student-led initiatives in Rome

Overview

Recent developments in Rome have centered on the integration of artificial intelligence across academic, scientific, and professional sectors.

In early October, the NoF 2026 conference brought together scholars from 29 countries to discuss the impact of AI, 6G, and next-generation networks on healthcare, mobility, and cybersecurity. By late October, the focus shifted toward workforce preparation. Educational initiatives, such as those hosted by Università Campus Bio-Medico, engaged high school students in exploring the intersection of AI, health, and sustainability. Additionally, the Consorzio Elis launched the ‘TrAIettoria’ project to support professional development for young people.

On October 22, student-focused activities expanded in the region. Università Campus Bio-Medico hosted the ‘Human, + Idee’ event, which drew over 1,400 high school students from Lazio to discuss future professions, sustainability, and healthcare. Other educational initiatives included the CineScuolaLab project in Basilicata, where students utilized cinema for social inclusion, culminating in a presentation at the Rome Film Festival.
