AI integration in education

In late July 2026, the Slovak Ministry of Education announced that artificial‑intelligence tools could help teachers draft outlines for group projects, generate rubrics and produce reflective questions, provided that student data is never shared with the AI. The ministry emphasized that AI should serve as a complementary aid and warned, through a Hungarian Montessori educator, that foundational skills must be mastered before children rely on digital tools.

A week later, a field experiment in Turkey evaluated a ChatGPT‑based teaching assistant used by teachers in a private high‑school chain. While the AI accelerated the preparation of lecture notes, assignments and exams, students reported lower enjoyment, interest and perceived importance of the classes. Academic achievement remained stable overall, but students of weaker teachers showed reduced scores on standardized exams and lower confidence. The study suggested that without careful training, guardrails and design, AI tools may diminish student motivation even as they improve teacher efficiency.
