The AI Summit Budapest, held at the Hungarian Music House and the Museum of Ethnography, focused on the practical applications of artificial intelligence. Initial discussions centered on the transition of autonomous software agents into the workforce, the implications of the EU AI Act, and advancements in physical AI for the automotive and logistics sectors. Corporate implementation was highlighted by MBH Bank, which outlined a multi-tiered strategy to integrate generative AI to improve efficiency and business value.

As the summit progressed, the focus expanded to include national strategy and scientific breakthroughs. Hungary’s Minister of Science and Technology, Zoltán Tanács, announced a government intention to spend 500 million euros on AI development, including a 125 million euro contribution to the European Union’s AI Gigafactory initiative.

The event also addressed security concerns regarding AI models accessing internal systems and showcased significant advancements in biology. Researchers demonstrated the use of generative AI models, specifically Evo1 and Evo2, to design viral genomes. This research resulted in the successful laboratory synthesis of 16 functional bacteriophages designed by AI.
