AIMIM political activities in India

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has been active in expanding his party’s political influence and critique of existing governance across different Indian states.

In Rajasthan, Owaisi advocated for a third political alternative to challenge the BJP and Congress, indicating potential support for Rashtriya Loktantrik Party leader Hanuman Beniwal. He also criticized the Rajasthan government for failures in civic infrastructure, sanitation, education, and healthcare, specifically noting issues in Jaipur’s Walled City and school safety.

In Uttar Pradesh, Owaisi has focused on electoral strategy for the 2027 Assembly elections. He announced that AIMIM would decide on potential political alliances by October 2, expressing a desire to work with like-minded parties to prevent a third consecutive BJP term. He emphasized the need for the Muslim community to develop its own political agency and leadership rather than being treated as a mere vote bank.

During rallies in Kanpur, Owaisi criticized the Samajwadi Party (SP) for its perceived silence regarding minority issues and government demolition drives. AIMIM spokesperson Shadab Chouhan stated that the SP’s ‘PDA’ outreach formula is incomplete without Owaisi. Additionally, Owaisi condemned recent government demolition actions in Kanpur, describing them as a violation of natural justice and an example of the ‘politics of hatred’. As part of its organizational preparations, AIMIM confirmed it will contest the Kanpur Cantt constituency.
