Air Astana international route expansion
Overview
Air Astana is expanding its international flight network through several new routes scheduled for late 2026.
In December 2026, the airline will launch direct services from Astana to Bangkok, Thailand, twice weekly. It will also introduce a seasonal service from Almaty to Langkawi, Malaysia, running three times per week from late December 2026 through March 2027. The Kazakhstan Ministry of Transport indicated these routes aim to increase tourism and bilateral ties.
Additionally, the airline announced a new direct service between Almaty and Tokyo Narita International Airport. Starting in late November 2026, this route will operate twice weekly in a codeshare partnership with Japan Airlines. CEO Ibrahim Canliel stated the expansion is intended to strengthen Kazakhstan’s role as a central hub for the Central Asia and Caucasus regions while boosting economic and cultural ties with Japan.
