Airline operational changes for France-Algeria routes

Overview

Airlines are implementing operational changes and fleet adjustments affecting routes between France and Algeria for the 2026-2027 period.

Transavia France is introducing the Airbus A320neo on select Paris-Orly to Algiers flights starting October 25, 2026, to strengthen its presence in North Africa. Simultaneously, ITA Airways is reducing its Rome-Algiers service frequency from 12 to 10 flights per week using Airbus A319 aircraft. ITA Airways CEO Joerg Eberhart noted that rising jet fuel costs could potentially lead to ticket price increases in 2027.

Furthering these shifts, Spanish airline Volotea is planning to restructure its operations by reducing its French-based fleet from 44 aircraft to between 30 and 35. This reduction is expected to impact international connections, specifically routes linking France to various Algerian cities including Algiers, Oran, Béjaïa, Constantine, Sétif, and Tlemcen.
