AJ Styles and Cody Rhodes professional discussion

Overview

Wrestlers AJ Styles and Cody Rhodes recently discussed professional etiquette and creative processes during an appearance on the ‘What Do You Want To Talk About?’ podcast.

Styles addressed receiving backstage heat following a controversial moment during their 2024 match at Backlash France. He explained that he suggested Cody Rhodes ‘fire up’ after being hit with a ‘Burning Hammer’ to create a major moment. Rhodes defended the sequence, noting the move is not one of Styles’ established finishers.

In a broader discussion on creative direction, Styles argued that performers should execute a writer’s vision rather than complaining about storylines unless they can provide a superior alternative. Rhodes agreed, emphasizing the importance of focusing on larger issues rather than minor creative disagreements. Rhodes also criticized certain outdated wrestling traditions and customs.
