This trend of political defections has expanded to Bahçelievler, Istanbul, where three municipal council members—Cem Şafak, Barış Ural, and Levent Arısüt—joined the AK Parti during a ceremony at the Nurettin Topçu Cultural Center. This shift altered the political balance of the Bahçelievler Municipal Council, reducing CHP membership from 25 to 22 and increasing the People's Alliance (Cumhur İttifakı) from 20 to 23 members, effectively securing a majority for the alliance. The AK Parti also indicated that four additional mayors from Foça (Izmir), Sungu (Muş), Felahiye, and Akkışla (Kayseri) were expected to join following an MKYK meeting.
In Kahramanmaraş, the AK Parti further expanded its presence during a Provincial Advisory Council meeting. In a significant shift, 24 municipal council members from the Dulkadiroğlu, Türkoğlu, Göksun, and Ekinözü districts resigned from the Yeniden Refah Party to join the AK Parti. Additionally, Dulkadiroğlu Mayor Mehmet Akpınar and Türkoğlu Mayor Mehmet Karaca officially joined the party. During the assembly, MP Vahit Kirişci highlighted regional development efforts, noting that 73 projects worth approximately 50 billion lira have been initiated in the region over the last three years to support a population that has grown by 20 percent compared to pre-earthquake levels.
