Akşehir shooting in Konya

Overview

A fatal shooting occurred at a coffeehouse in the Akşehir district of Konya, resulting in the death of 33-year-old veterinarian and former İYİ Party official İbrahim Aktaş.

Initial reports indicated the shooting stemmed from a dispute between the coffeehouse owner and a suspect identified as Hasan Hüseyin Ş. Subsequent details revealed that the suspect, who has a criminal record for intentional injury and attempted murder, had allegedly demanded money, food, and pocket money from the establishment's operator. After his demands were refused, the suspect opened fire with a rifle.

During the incident, the suspect reportedly pursued the operator and fired shots into a nearby jewelry store where a woman had sought refuge. The suspect was eventually neutralized by individuals inside the jewelry store and has since been arrested by the court. One other individual, Musa Yaşar, was injured in the attack.
