Al Wadia border crossing operational issues

Overview

The Al Wadia border crossing between Yemen and Saudi Arabia has faced significant operational challenges. Initially, the crossing experienced severe traveler congestion, with large crowds and long queues causing delays for families, the elderly, and medical patients. Travelers reported harsh conditions due to high temperatures and a lack of essential services, such as clean restrooms, air-conditioned waiting areas, and drinking water.

Following these logistical issues, security operations at the crossing resulted in a narcotics seizure. Security forces intercepted approximately 15,000 Pregabalin tablets concealed within a vehicle. Brigadier General Bassam al-Najjar reported that the shipment originated from areas under Houthi militia control, and the driver and vehicle were detained for investigation.
