Alfonso Martínez Alcázar political activities in Michoacán
Overview
Morelia Mayor Alfonso Martínez Alcázar has been conducting tours across Michoacán, visiting regions such as Uruapan and Zamora to engage with business leaders, women’s groups, and the agricultural sector. In Morelia, he met with representatives from various indigenous communities to discuss security, health, education, and autonomy, advocating for reconciliation and development models based on active listening.
Regarding his political future, Martínez initially responded cryptically to media inquiries about a potential 2027 candidacy, stating, “As Juan Gabriel said, what is seen does not need to be asked.” He has since expressed formal support for David Cortés to succeed him as mayor in 2027, citing Cortés’s talent and campaign experience as necessary to compete against Morena party candidates.
