Arrests made in assault of Eduard Kuçi by Jozefin Marku

Influencer Eduard Kuçi released video footage documenting a physical altercation with Jozefin Marku, a former resident of Big Brother VIP Albania. Following the incident, Kuçi posted a statement on social media claiming, “Pabesia dhe tradhtia kanë rrëzuar edhe mbretër! 15 me 1 në konakun e tyre! Shikim të këndshëm!” which translates to “Injustice and betrayal have even brought down kings! 15 against 1 in their case! Enjoy the view!”.

Subsequent reports indicate that singer Jozefin Marku was detained by Tirana Police for questioning regarding an alleged assault on the Tirana-Durrës highway. The confrontation reportedly involved Marku and several others, some wearing masks and police uniforms, targeting Kuçi while he was driving alone. While Marku claimed the event was a “staged act for performance purposes,” authorities are treating the matter as a serious legal issue. Consequently, Kosovo prosecutors have issued an entry ban against Marku, and Kosovo Police have interviewed Kuçi.

Albanian police have since arrested Jozefin Marku and Kristjan Nikolli following the violent assault on the 26-year-old Kosovar citizen near the Rinas airport area. Investigators state the conflict stemmed from social media insults directed at Marku. Marku faces multiple charges, including illegal deprivation of liberty, minor bodily injury, threats, unlawful possession of a uniform, and unlawful interference with private life. Nikolli, suspected of driving the Land Rover used during the incident, faces charges of aiding a criminal and illegal possession of weapons and ammunition.

Authorities reported that Marku attempted to evade arrest by hiding in a bathroom at Nikolli’s residence. Two other individuals, Anton Huli and Kevin Vuthaj, have been declared wanted for questioning. The Basic Prosecution in Peja, Kosovo, has opened a criminal case regarding the assault.
