Amaal Mallik–Tanishk Bagchi dispute
Entities: Devendra Fadnavis · Amaal Mallik · Tanishk Bagchi
Overview
In late July 2026 Indian composer Amaal Mallik used his X account to allege that a paid public‑relations effort by parts of the Indian film industry was aimed at discrediting the title track "Yeh Awarapan" from the forthcoming film *Awarapan 2*. He thanked fans for supporting the song and urged listeners to judge it on its own merits.
Mallik’s statements also singled out fellow composer Tanishk Bagchi, accusing him of routinely copying original songs, evading royalty payments, and engaging in misconduct toward female singers. He cited specific plagiarism claims on the track "Saiyaara" and hinted at sexual‑harassment allegations.
Two days later Mallik amplified the feud, labeling Bagchi "Mr Remix & Destroyer of Originals" and alleging that Bagchi had taken credit for songs—including the *Saiyaara* title track—while using AI‑generated vocals presented as his own. Mallik reiterated that Bagchi relied on paid PR campaigns to shape public perception.
On 24 July 2026 Mallik deleted the earlier posts, saying the removal was only to “clean up” his timeline and not a retraction. He described the deleted content as “garbage,” emphasized a decade of patience before speaking out, and reiterated that every allegation remained firm.
Later the same day Mallik posted a fresh statement reaffirming all accusations, warning Bagchi to stay within his limits, and pledging to continue exposing what he called the “scums” of the music industry. No response from Bagchi has been reported, leaving the dispute ongoing on social media.
